Over the last two years, we have seen organizations world over adapt to new work environments and conditions. This adaptation leads to several revelations. Revelations that led to astounding transformations. Transformational trends in workplace culture that you’ll see in 2022.
Employees have gotten used to working from home. A newfound freedom in the flexibility of work is appreciated and productivity (surprising for most organizations) has gone up. HR models that used to work in the past no longer hold relevance in the slightest. In fact, constrictive policy models have been thrown out the window. HR learned how to embrace the complexity and diversity of its employee population in order to manage them better.
As technology advances it continuous to redefine the relationship between us and the workplace. We’ve taken note of the advancements, studied our own employees’ behaviors, wants, needs and expectations, and transformed accordingly (and for the better). Every industry is likely to be influenced (in varying degrees) by the following transformational trends.
According to KPMG, 69% of CEOs aimed to downsize over the last couple of years. In other words, they’d decrease the amount of office space they have. That is a significant amount of money saved. Employees come in at a 50-60% capacity on varying days depending on work deliverables, personal schedules, and meeting requirements. This arrangement ensures that part of the flexibility of work from home still remains (benefiting employees), work still gets done and money is saved and used somewhere better (benefiting employers). Many reports have concluded that up to 90% of employees are happier with increased freedom and flexibility. This will influence the global war for talent wherein employees will compete for jobs where flexibility like this is available.
In keeping with this trend, we have introduced a similar policy where employees are allowed to work from home 3-4 days a month.
Employee Healthcare & Wellbeing
There is an incredible increase in employee healthcare and wellbeing. Specifically mental wellbeing. Organizations are taking the necessary steps to focus more on work-life balance by taking on a number of new measures. As a part of flexible working, they encourage employees to take time off to exercise, meditate, conduct leisure activities, provide counseling, provide an allowance for therapy, some companies even give people paid time off to give back to the community. There are many ways to encourage employees to adopt a healthy lifestyle through food, sleep, and the right medical availability.
We make sure health is part of the HubEngage employees’ day-to-day life. By conducting online exercise classes, holding sports events, providing healthy snacks in the office, making sure that they are given substantial medical insurance (that covers their parents too), and lastly we provide a gym allowance.
Core Focus On Skills
One of the primary reason’s why employees switch jobs is because they see no growth and they aren’t learning anymore. From the organization’s point of view, an employee can only deliver value and quality work if they are well trained when it comes to their job, industry, and designation. Organizations now realize the importance of investing in training their employees and helping them up the ladder. Employee skills prove to be critical because they address the core competencies of the organization and fuel their competitive edge. The ROI is tenfold. Companies will now recognize each individual’s skill set and help them train according to their competency and what they’d like to do as well. Employees will have better knowledge and are able to do their jobs more efficiently. At the same time, you will see more fluidity in designations where employees are allowed to explore different areas to see where they fit best. All these efforts also ensure that the shelf life of the skill will never run out because it is constantly being updated as time and technology advances.
Learning and growth are very important at HubEngage. We encourage our employees to learn at all times. By providing education allowances we try to eliminate any training gaps we may face so employees can still get the right education needed. Each employee’s trajectory is mapped out along with the company growth so employees are given ample opportunity to grow as well as explore different avenues as they grow. This has definitely proven to help employees be more transparent about their wants and career growth expectations.
Employee Data & Analytics
With remote and hybrid work at the forefront, using tools and platforms to monitor employee progress and behavior has become a priority. Organizations can easily communicate, engage, recognize and track employee analytics via employee engagement platforms. Organizations are increasingly investing in these platforms in order to drive efficiency and productivity. Companies that use this technology understand their employee populations better and are able to make well-informed decisions quicker and in real-time.
At HubEngage, we do believe in the phrase ‘Practice what you preach’. We use our employee communications platform to understand our employees better with the help of surveys. All our policy and procedure updates are based on employee feedback and communication. Our attrition levels are lower than 5% and those who have moved on have managed to leverage their improved skill set and experience to join the likes of Google, Amazon, and other large conglomerates.
We’d say it’s a win-win for everyone!
